More details

Husky Wilderness Short Break

Day 1
At 16:00 you are picked up at the meeting point in Kiruna city or at 16:15 at the airport. After a 1 hour drive you arrive at the lovely Lappeasuando Lodge. Here you are welcomed by your host. You get a little introduction about the coming days as well as warm winter clothes which will keep you warm during your winter adventure. You wear the clothes right away, because the transfer to the wilderness camp goes by snowmobile and sled. At the camp you enjoy a nice dinner and have the opportunity for a relaxing sauna.

Day 2
After a hearty breakfast your guide brings you back to the lodge where the friendly Siberian huskies are waiting for you. Your guide shows you how to harness the dogs and how to drive the dogsled. Then it is time to head out into the winter wonderland. As soon as the dogs run, they are totally happy and you feel the happiness, too. There is no better way to enjoy the quiet and peaceful nature in the winter. In the afternoon you arrive at another wilderness cabin where you will spend the night. It is a simple but cozy cabin in the forest. You take care of your dog team, feed them and make sure they are comfortable for the night. Then you enjoy a hearty meal yourself which tastes even better after a day in the fresh and crispy winter air. Before you go to bed, you might want to take a look outside. As the cabin is located far away from artificial lights, the chances are good to see the magical Northern Lights.

Day 3
Today you enjoy another day out with „your“ dogs. Now you know already how to be a musher and you can relax and just enjoy the beauty of winter. Do you „hear“ the silence? On half way there will be a break for an outdoor lunch. Back at the wilderness camp you enjoy another cozy evening with good food and sauna. If you are lucky, you may see the northern lights dancing in the sky.

Day 4
After breakfast you harness your dogs one more time. Today's tour takes you back to the main lodge whereyou say goodbye to your four-legged, furry friends. The transfer back to Kiruna airport or to the city is at 11:30. You get a lunch box for the way.
