Kayaking on the Corrib River One-day tour

Description

Set off along the River Corrib to the largest lake in Ireland.  The kayak is the perfect craft to take in this natural wonder close-up.  The River Corrib runs through the centre of Galway town, connecting Lough Corrib to the sea. At 170sq.km Lough Corrib is the largest lake in the Republic of Ireland with more than 1,000 islands and islets to explore. This Corrib tour is a mix of open water paddling, island hopping, navigating rocky and reedy channels, observing nature and enjoying stunning vistas. Within reason the trip is aligned to the abilities of paddlers.   

What´s Included

Guide. Cags (kayaking anorak), spray deck, buoyancy aid & wetsuit long johns. Hot drink and chocolate provided during tour break.  

What to bring

What to bring: With wetsuits and splash proof gear available for use all you need to bring is a change of clothes that you don't mind getting wet, a towel and old runners and you're ready to go. We'll kit you out with all the relevant safety gear and you'll be on your way!

Towel, swimming trunks/tight leggings (must fit under wetsuit) and footwear you don't mind getting wet. Tops x 2 depending on temperature but short sleeve & long sleeve thermal activity tops cover most conditions, for colder days bring heavier long-sleeved x 2 tops. Hat (warm fleece wool or sun cap).

Food and drinks (at least a bottle of water). If the weather is good bring a hat, sun cream and sun glasses for the glare off the water.  

Additional information

Bring a towel and warm clothes to change into after the session. There are no toilet facilities at the parking area or during the kayaking tour. It is strongly recommended to wear a life jacket when on or close to water. Please advise the guide if you are not a strong swimmer prior to taking part in the activity.
