Description

This is an experienced rider’s dream. Travel from the stable to Strand Island and discover the unspoilt and expansive beaches on horseback! Feel the thrill of crossing an Atlantic channel to O'Connor's or Dernish Island. This ride includes some very fast riding and is not for the faint hearted, you need to be experienced, saddle fast and have stamina for this adventure. Your horse can enjoy the salty island grass while you relax, have a snack and explore the sites of ancient farm life on the island. A group of young horses and our dry stock cattle herd roam the islands. 

Seals and migratory birds can often be spotted in the estuary. Riders should bring picnic lunches with them to eat on the island at the old O'Connor homestead. In the interest of client safety and comfort only very fit and very experienced riders should take part in this ride.

Water proof clothing and footwear suitable for stirrups. Refreshments as required.

Additional information

In the interest of horse welfare and client safety there is a rider weight limit of 100kg, 220 lbs or 16 stone. In the interest of client safety and comfort only very fit and very experienced riders should take part in this ride.  Riders are requested to wear appropriate weather proof clothing and footwear compatible with stirrups. Please wear safety equipment provided and follow your guides instructions. It is recommended to wear a life jacket when on or close to water. Lunch is not included with this package unless purchased as an extra.

In the interest of client safety and comfort only very fit and very experienced riders should take part in this ride. Please advise us of each riders experience level i.e.: beginner or intermediate (10 years plus regular riding) or experienced (15 years plus regular riding)?
