Westman Islands - Hiking & Boat Tour One-day tour

Our partner: Seabirds and Cliff Adventures

Description

This combo tour starts in Herjólfsdalur valley where our hiking starts. After some insightful stories about the first settlers on the island the first part of the hike leads us to Saltaberg rock.

From Saltaberg we will have the option of "spranga" which is an icelandic word for swinging on a rope from the top of a rock/cliff. We have secured a long rope from the top of Saltaberg and from the bottom we have a chance to spranga with magnificent veiws over Heimaey.

Next part of the hike takes us to the top of Dalfjall mountain. A good view of the rest of Heimaey to the south, Iceland to the north, "Blátindur" summit to the west and "Eggjar" to the east.

For those who want to go a little bit further, we can take you on the last part of the hike to the summit of Blátindur, the second-highest point of the island. From there you can have a complete overview of the whole area and it really is a powerful experience to stand on the summit.

After descending we go to a restaurant for a light meal (included in the price).

The second half of the tour is a 1-hour RIB boat ride around the area. There we will explore sea caves, cliffs, birdlife and remote stone beaches. We sail up close to the Elephant rock if weather and sea allows us but one thing is for sure, you have to see Westman Islands from the sea!
