On this extraordinary tour you will ride a powerful ATV over vast black volcanic beach, walk behind thundering veil of water at Seljalandsfoss and absorb the incredible view over Iceland's South Coast from the top of Skógafoss Waterfall.
ATV biking is great way to explore the volcanic black sandy beaches and views of the volcanoes and glaciers along the south coast. Drive to the raw sandy beach, trough small rivers and streams, which derives from the dormant volcano Katla. Make your way to the DC-3 plane wreck from 1973, which was recently featured in Justin Bieber's music video.
On our way back to Reykjavík, we stop by the the powerful Skógafoss Waterfall where a short walk up a flight of steps will reveal one of Iceland’s most scenic views. We then stop at the 60-metre high Seljalandsfoss Waterfall, famous for the hidden pathway behind and around it.
Join our tour and step aboard one of our new buses, fully equipped with WiFi connected computer tablets for each guest. The tablets provide you with a continuous stream of relevant information along the journey with a GPS synced Audio Guide, available with a choice of 10 languages. Along the tour our local hosts will make your experience comfortable and are happy to answer any questions you might have about our peculiar country. In each seat you will also find a USB outlet to charge any of your devices.
All in all this tour is an unforgettable experience of conflicting landscapes where the nature envelops the traveler in its warm embrace.
Bring with you: Dress according to weather. In Iceland it is always smart to dress in warm and waterproof clothes, weather changes are swift so prepare expect the unexpected. Bring a waterproof jacket and pants, headwear and gloves. Good outdoor shoes are recommended.
In-Bus-Audio-Guide: Bring your own headphones. Otherwise we sell earphones on the bus.
For ATV: All equipment is provided including (dry suit, kayak and paddle). It is a good idea to bring some food along the way for when you return from snowmobiling adventure.
• Tours depart from the Reykjavik Terminal located at Skógarhlíð 10. Please be sure to arrive 15 minutes prior to departure along with a printed or digital copy of your ticket/voucher.
• If you have booked a hotel pickup with Smartbus™, please be at your chosen pickup location 30 minutes before the departure of the tour. Look for the Green Smartbus™ which will be outside your accommodation at within the 30 minutes of pickup.
Once you arrive at Solheimajökull the Arcanium Team will bring you to their base officer, where you will get all the necessary gear needed for ATV riding on the black sand beaches near by. After a short briefing, you hop on the ATVs and head out to the beaches where you will have the chance to stop and enjoy the amazing views of the Mýrdalsjökull glacier. You will also continue on through rivers and streams as you head to see the famous DC-3 plane wreck. You will have plenty of opportunity to photograph and film scenery and the beautiful landscape.
This two hour ride is perfect for those who want a little bit of excitement to the classic south coast of Iceland tour. The tour will take to to untouched nature for a once in a lifetime experience.
You will cross small rivers, trickling down from the glacier that lurks in the back and explore the vast black sandy beaches of the Atlantic ocean. The highlight of the tour is a stop at an old plane wreck from 1973.
Along the return trip to Reykjavik, we will stop at the powerful 65 meter tall Skógafoss Waterfall where a short walk up a flight of steps will reveal one of Iceland´s most scenic views of glaciers, volcanoes and black sandy beaches. With viewpoints both above and directly next to the waterfall, photographers will have plenty of chances to capture that unique shot.
The Seljalandsfoss waterfall is for many guests the highlight of this trip, as you can walk along and behind this waterfall offering a completely unique perspective; just be sure to bring a rain jacket! From here we will spend about 1.5hrs in the coach returning to Reykjavik.
