Soft River Banks One-day tour

Description

This tour is for experienced riders who would like to ride the Icelandic horse in an extraordinary environment. We begin the tour on nice riding trails along our meadows which are perfect for trying the special gait of the Icelandic horse, tölt. We continue riding on grassland, following the river Gljúfurá to an old cemetery and further down to the soft Ölfusá River bank. From there, we have a view of the river and if the weather allows the famous volcanos Hekla and Eyjafjallajökull. We proceed through a bird sanctuary before returning to our farm Vellir.

What´s Included

Pick up and drop off, Riding for 2 1/2 - 3 hours. We provide helmets and rain gear/winter overalls.

What to bring

Please wear clothes according to weather and solid shoes. We recommend hiking boots.

Additional information

This tour is offered all year round. 2.5-3 hours riding. Pick-up in Reykjavik every day at 08:00. Return to Reykjavik ca. 13:00. Note that pick up from hotels in Hafnarfjörður, Kópavogur and Mosfellsbær is at 7:30 and pick up from Hveragerði and Selfoss is at 8:45. Please double check your booking a day or two before arrival for the pick up location, as the bus stops may change without notice. Only for experienced riders!
