It is amazing to hike in Iceland and hiking in Reykjadalur (Steam Valley) will give you a hiking experience that you won’t forget. Reykjadalur (Steam Valley) is a geothermal area as the name implies and a popular hiking route only about 40 minutes drive from Reykjavik. Not only will you get a lovely hiking day but you can dip into one of the warm river that run in the valley.

We at Adventure Vikings will pick you up at your hotel and drive you towards the valley. Then we will hike through the geothermal area and end up by the warm river where you can have a swim. This is a unique experience as you can relax there quietly with the nature surrounding you. Note that there is no dressing room or showers, only pure nature for you to enjoy.

  • Good hiking shoes - no sneakers or heals
  • Clothes suitable for hiking - waterproof jacket in case of rain
  • Good to have extra clothes and socks - no jeans 
  • Backpack and water bottle for fresh water refill will be handy
  • Camera - waterproof casing if you have - we also rent GoPro´s

Additional information

The hike to the river is 1-2 hours - based on fitness level
There are no changing rooms, restrooms or facilities at the river
Please dress according to weather - no jeans or heels
