We will pick you up with a super-jeep and our excellent driver-guides will take you on a true adventure! We begin by venturing into the earth, exploring the hidden worlds of the volcanic nature. Walking down into the lava cave and discovering the marvels that volcanic activity has created in the past is a trip that will amaze you. You will experience the magical rock formations left behind by the last volcanic eruption, and during winter months, the cave is likely to be filled with glistening icicles of all shapes and sizes, making it a truly beautiful spectacle. After our underground exploration, we will enjoy the culinary adventure of the evening! At Fjorubordid restaurant in Stokkseyri village, a gourmet langoustine dinner awaits us. After dinner, we will then enjoy the midnight wonders. 

During winter months, we will search for the elusive Northern Lights. If the weather gods are playing in our favor, we may be lucky enough to witness the whole color array the Aurora Borealis has to offer. 

Let's cross our fingers and hope for the best! During summer months, we will enjoy a quiet moment at the local beach, drinking in the energy of the midnight sun. If you are an aspiring yogi, this might be just the moment to catch a unique selfie in the black sand, posing in the stunning light! On the way home, the super jeep driver will get off the beaten path, adding a kick to the end of the tour!

What to bring

When you are visiting a lava cave, you will be provided with all the necessary safety equipment such as helmets and lights. What you need to bring along are good hiking shoes. At the entrance of the cave during winter time, you will need a good base layer, we would suggest a warm wool layer. For a second layer, we recommend hiking pants and a good sweater. And for an outer layer, we suggest a warm pair of gloves and a hat, plus a waterproof jacket since sometimes it drips from the ceiling of the cave. Keep in mind that the temperature inside the cave is around 0 – 4 degrees Celcius (32 – 38 Fahrenheit), and it is a good shelter from the weather so there is no need to dress up for extreme conditions as if you would be going on a glacier hike.

During summertime, there is no need for three layers for your legs, one or two layers are good, but keep in mind that while it might be warmer when entering the cave it is still the same temperature at the deep end, all year round (3-4°C).

Seeing the Northern Lights is highly dependent on conditions and can in no way be guaranteed. Tour is unsuitable for children under 6 years old.
