Beginning in the capital city of Finland – Helsinki. Explore the city’s most prominent cathedrals: the Helsinki Cathedral and Uspenski Cathedral. Constructed in the 1800s, the cathedrals were built while Finland was a part of Russia. Now, the cathedrals are landmarks of Helsinki. Wander the outdoor Kauppatori Market filled with everything from local produce to souvenirs, Kauppatori creates a vibrant atmosphere within the city. The last stop in this city tour is the Sibelius Park. In the heart sits a monument to Sibelius: a renowned Finnish composer accredited with helping Finland develop a national identity. The park is on the waterfront of a large bay with one of the best cafés in Helsinki nearby. Your day concludes with an overnight train to Rovaniemi.
Rovaniemi is the capital of Christmas spirit and the hometown of Santa Claus. On arrival in Lapland, you will be met in Rovaniemi train station and set off to Santa Claus Village. Meet the real Santa Claus in his office at the festive Santa Claus village, visit the main Santa's post office and greet special Elves. The traditional lunch-buffet will be served at the Christmas House. Located on the Arctic Circle, you will receive a certificate for crossing the Arctic Circle and will become a true Arctic trekker! After the tour, the guide will drive you to your accommodation for checking in.
Although the Arctic is known for harsh winter climate, it is full of green and flourishing forests during the summers. Along the beautiful nature trek, you can find rich varieties of berries and mushrooms. Handpicked directly from the forest, the berries and the mushrooms are the freshest. Enjoy the taste while you are picking them or savor them with a barbeque lunch. Once well-fed, head to the lakeside sauna to view the midnight sun. Enjoy your wonderful vacation in paradise!
Rovaniemi is one of the largest cities in the European Union by land , with most of the city being forestland. Within the forestland live many different animals and critters; most importantly, the Reindeer and the Husky. The reindeer roam freely during the winter, and they return to their farms during the summer. The tourists visit the reindeer farms and the husky farms to meet and feed these animals.
The day trip continues with a tour of the city. Visit the Northern Lights Church - the Rovaniemi Church, which is the largest church in Rovaniemi. Originally made of wood, it was burned down and reconstructed in 1950. The church remains a cornerstone of the city. The tour continues with the most scenic parts of the area before heading to the neighboring towns in the following days.
The private car will take you from your hotel to Luosto, a city located 115 km away from Rovaniemi. The area contains beautiful forests and nature, where you can indulge yourself in the tranquility of the Arctic circle. The 20 million years old amethyst mine is located inside the ancient mountains. Climbing up the mountain you will meet professionals who will tell you the interesting history of the Amethyst Mine. With the support of them, use the tools to dig out your own piece of amethyst, which you can take with you for a small souvenir. Afterward, enjoy the beautiful landscape of this mountain offered together with a small campfire barbecue. The mining continues with the summer gold rush! Your guides know the best locations for finding gold and will take you there in Saariselkä. To extract the gold, you will be panning across deposits and trying your luck as a gold miner. In the end of the day, you will be accommodated in Tankavaara.
Your last stop will be the town of Inari, the center of Sami culture. Sami people are the indigenous people of Lapland, and there is the Sami Siida Museum, which introduced in depth of the unique Sami culture. After visiting the museum, you will have a free time to explore the peaceful village. The surrounding area has over 100 named hills, and the city has 4 official languages spoken by different Sámi groups. At the end of the day, you will be transferred to Rovaniemi train station.
