From skálfjørður we drive past the fjord of skála, Gøta, leirvík and a few other smaller towns before driving into the sub sea tunnel to the north.
We save Klaksvík for later and go straight north towards Viðareiði. We have a photostop above Árnafjørður which is located between two of the most exciting tunnels in the whole of the Faroes.
Drive to the village of Viðareiði, which is the northernmost village in the Faroes. It has also a rumor of being the most haunted one, as there are many stories about ghosts and over earthly forces here!
Kunoy island is the highest island on average in the Faroes, and is therefore especially dramatic, steep and beautiful. Here there is freedom to wander around in the sleepy but dramatic village. There is also a great view to Kalsoy from here.
Arrive in the second biggest town in the Faroes. Waiting for the boat to Kalsoy we have a full hour here. Here there is freedom to wander around. There are many shops in Klakvík, and the town is also famous for being a gem when it comes to beauty. ( Packed Lunch & Beverages is served )
We take the ferry from the harbour of Klaksvík towards Kalsoy. The boat ride is about 20 minutes
We drive directly from the ferry all the way north to the northernmost village on the island; Trøllanes. Here we leave those who want to hike to Kallur lighthouse. (extra 350 dkk) The guide is the local farmer which is one of only 13 inhabitants . As the hikers get ready to leave, you can enjoy the stunning view over to Kunoyarnakkur (Kunoy) and Enniberg (viðoy) in the distance. The birdlife here is amazing, and it is normal to see puffins here (not very close though)
After leaving Trøllanes we head south to the next village Mikladalur. This town is also a pearl, and is site of the famous Seal woman, which is the main protagonist in a old Faroese legend. She is though in later years most famous for the statue of her, which is located down by the shore in stunning environment.
Driving south again past the village of Húsar to the village of Syðradalur where you will be able to walk around and enjoy the town as we wait for the ferry to come and pick us up again.
We go onboard the ferry back to Klaksvík, and head straight back to Tórshavn as the boat arrives in Klaksvík (toilet visits on demand)
Board the bus and drive up a mountain road, to see the old village dam, see the windmills that are located above the village of Vestmanna, visit a shop, where the local knitting ladies sell handmade garments.
Friday Arrive at Leitisvatn and see the statue of “Nykur”, a mythical faroes figure
Visit the village of Kvívík, were we will visit some historical residential remains.
Wednesday Board the ferry and begin the journey to the birdcliffs
The Journey takes us to the Southernmost island in the Faroe Islands Suðuroy, which has been out of the reach for many tourists until now. The reason for this is first and foremost the two hour sail trip each way, and also the difficult bus connections on the island. Suðuroy i known for it’s spectacularly raw landscape, strong culture and nice people with quite a different dialéct than most other Faroese.
Friday Arrive in the village of Sandavág, were we will make a stop to see some historical remains
Thursday Drive to Norðradalsskarð and Sornfelli.
Friday
Friday Arrive at the village of Bø, were you will get the opportunity to walk around the village and see the amazing views of Tindholm and Drangarnar.
