Tórshavn – The smallest capital in the world One-day tour Best seller

Description

Discover the little capital and the historic gem, Kirkjubøur!

Tórshavn is one of the world's smallest capitals, beautifully situated at the foot of the surrounding mountains and with a panoramic view of the island of Nólsoy. The town was founded in the year 825 and got its name after the Nordic god Thor. When you enter the old Town, Reyn and Tinganes, and walk around between the houses, you will experience a maze of alleys and narrow alleys. After Torshavn we head over to the old cultural stronghold in Kirkjubø, where you can see the world's oldest wooden house, Roykstovan, from the year 1050, and which today houses the 17th generation of the Patursson family. You will also have the opportunity to see the ruins of St. Magnus' catchedral from the 1300s and Olav's church from the 1200s.
